I expect and demand

Freedom of Religion

As I write this, World Net Daily has just published a story of a book (King and King) (see also this article) about homosexuality, which is aimed at 6 year old children and available through the school library. The book tells the story of a prince looking for his true love, who rejects a number of princesses in favour of another prince.

No doubt this is the thin edge of the wedge. We can expect to see similar material become commonplace in school libraries, and our children will be taught that homosexual relationships are equivalent to hetrosexual marriages. The system will teach our children to disregard and reject the biblical views of their parents as intolerant and homophobic.

In Queensland Australia (where I live), a law has recently been passed which denies Christian organisations (schools, etc.) the right to choose staff in keeping with their views on homosexuality. In other words, if the local Christian school is seeking teaching staff, the school can not take the sexual orientation of applicants into consideration, even though the school community may hold the biblical view that homosexuality is a grave sin. Thus, we can now be forced to accept homosexuals teaching our children in our own christian school.

This is a denial of religious freedom. I believe there is a God, and that he designed men and women to work together in a wonderful way spiritually and physically. I believe God has said that homosexual actions are an abomination.

I understand that people who think there is no God would hold a very different world-view. They do not see anything special about the way male and female work together, and believe that homosexuality is equivalent to hetrosexuality.

They think that belief in a God is ridiculous, and that they are the more enlightened ones, and therefore assume the right to teach their world view to my children.

Nevertheless, I expect and demand the right to choose what my children are taught. I expect the right to reject the Godless world view, and to teach my children what God says about the matter in His word.

I expect and demand the right to make my life choices in accordance with my religious beliefs and principles. I expect and demand the right to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom to follow my beliefs.

I expect and demand the right to bring my children up in accordance with my own religious beliefs.

I expect my church to have the right to conduct its activities in accordance with the religious beliefs of its members.

I expect and demand the world's tolerance of my religious beliefs and practice.

I do not expect the right to hate others, but if their practices conflict with my religious beliefs, I expect the right to say so, and to teach my children accordingly.

I do not expect the right to hurt others or attack them. I do expect the right to speak about my beliefs and how they affect the choices society is making.

How dare you deny me the right and freedom to follow my God and practice my religion in the name of “tolerance” and political correctness?
