More: Renewable Energy Home Show reveals how to save money at the flick of a switch

Presented by the Toowoomba and Region Environment Council
Sponsored by the Crows Nest Shire Council

The Renewable Energy Home Show, a two day family expo featuring the latest in cost-saving renewable energy technologies, opens at the Highfields Cultural Centre on the 16th and 17th March 2002.

The Renewable Energy Home Show features 30 stalls of various renewable energy technologies, 8 guest speakers and demonstrations of the great number of ways in which the householder can cut their power bills (and even make money) using renewable energy technologies.

The draw-card of the Renewable Energy Home Show will be the newly
released Toyota Prius hybrid electric car. This car highlights the groundbreaking innovations in renewable energy industries and demonstrates how these cost-saving technologies are now readily available to everyone.

Guest speakers will include Mr Mike Stasse, a specialist in energy
efficient houses, who will reveal how home owners, and those planning to build, can take simple actions to create an energy efficient home that cuts power bills. He will also be speaking on the number of energy efficient home appliances and their practical benefits.

Also speaking will be Ms Kirsten Macey from the Queensland Conservation Council (QCC). A past environmental activist and anti-nuclear campaigner, Kirsten is now the facilitator for the QCC Cool Communities project, which is helping to create cool solutions to global warming. Kirsten will be talking about energy efficient home appliances, and she will also be speaking on the benefits and savings available from solar power and other renewable energy technologies.

“Cost-saving renewable energy technologies are easily available these
days” says TREC coordinator Stuart Shaw, “and the Renewable Energy Home Show will be jam-packed with all the renewable energy innovations and benefits available to the householder.”

Part of the promotion of the event includes a free information package on home-based renewable energy innovations. Included in this package is a free CD-ROM from the Australian Greenhouse Office. If you want to receive a copy of this free package please phone 07 46321505.
